Program structure and curriculum

No, MSc in Management (MGT) courses are only offered in English. However, deliverables may be completed in either official language (English or French).

The MSc in Management is an in-person program only, it is not available in a hybrid format.

It is not possible to complete your degree in less time than the designated duration of your chosen program option.

The program is between one to two years, depending on whether you choose the Research Project (1 year), Research Project with Co-Op (20 months) or Thesis (2-year) option.

Our program offers 7 concentrations in Business Analytics, Finance, Health Systems, Information Technology Management, Innovation Management, Marketing and Behavioural Science, and Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources.

The options are distinguished by both the curriculum structure and the time required to complete them:

  1. Research Project (1 year): During the first two terms (8 months), students’ complete core and elective courses in their concentration. In the winter term, they select a project topic and define its scope. The final term is devoted to the research project, which may take a theoretical form (e.g., a literature review offering practical insights) or an empirical form using primary or secondary data.

  1. Research Project with Co-Op (20 months): Students complete 30 units, including eight 3‑unit courses and a 6‑unit research project. Course requirements vary by concentration, with both mandatory and elective options. Students must also complete two four-month co‑op terms, which are evaluated on a pass/fail basis by their employer and the co‑op office.

  1. Thesis (2 years): Students devote the first two terms (8 months) to a mix of core and elective courses in their chosen concentration. They then present their thesis proposal to the thesis committee for approval by the end of their second term. After approval, students then conduct their research and write their thesis report during their last four terms (16 months). Finally, students defend their thesis to a supervisor and thesis committee to complete the program.

The Telfer MSc in Management (MGT) program is designed for highly motivated individuals with or without prior professional experience who want to deepen their understanding of management through research-based learning.

Yes. You don’t need to have a supervisor when you apply to the research project option, but you will need to find one to supervise your project during the program. It’s recommended that you secure a supervisor by the end of the Fall semester.
