Biography

Dr. Hien Tran is Associate Professor at the Telfer School of Management in the area of Strategy and Entrepreneurship. She has published widely in the fields of Entrepreneurship, Management and Industrial Economics in high-impact academic journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Industrial and Corporate Change, Small Business Economics, etc. In her previous capacity, as a lecturer at RMIT University (Australia) and a senior lecturer at Edge Hill University (UK), she taught and coordinated various courses across the management and entrepreneurship discipline. As a researcher, two years of experience as a post-doctoral research fellow at Department of Economics, University of Bologna, Italy and four years of PhD research at School of Social Science, University of Trento, Italy enabled her to possess a solid theoretical background in economics and management and master empirical analyses of strategies, markets and industrial sectors. As a practitioner, she was involved in several international projects (sponsored by NUFFIC, JICA) on training women entrepreneurs and managers of SMEs, and building research capacity for universities in Vietnam.

Her current research is concerned with innovation and entrepreneurship in transition countries, and how entrepreneurial knowledge spillover can facilitate trading activities between developed markets and emerging markets.
