Tuition fee
Tuition fees for the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program are highly competitive:
- Domestic students (Canadian citizens or permanent residents): approximately C$26,000 (for the full-time, six-term professional program)
- International students: approximately C$57,500
Differential Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship
If you’re an international student and you completed your secondary or post-secondary education in French, you might qualify for the Differential Tuition Fee Exemption Scholarship. It can significantly reduce your tuition fees.

Scholarships and awards
MHA admission scholarships
The Telfer School of Management’s goal is to attract top-quality candidates to its MHA program. The Admissions Committee will award the following scholarships to students who meet the eligibility criteria:
Telfer School of Management Admission Scholarship
$5,000
(No application required — limited scholarships available)
To qualify, you must be registered as a full-time student (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) in the Telfer MHA program, demonstrate academic excellence and/or excellent GMAT/GRE scores and demonstrate outstanding potential based on a review of your work experience and motivation.

One scholarship of $15,000
To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, be admitted as a full-time female graduate student in the Telfer MHA program, be actively involved in your community and be a racialized person (member of a visible minority) — defined as someone other than an Indigenous (Aboriginal) person who is non-white in colour or race, regardless of place of birth or citizenship — or provide documented proof of Indigenous identity in line with uOttawa’s administrative procedures.

To qualify, you must have received an offer of admission into Telfer’s full-time MHA program, demonstrate excellence as shown in your academic transcripts and relevant work experience, and demonstrate, early in your career, a strong passion for health care and a likeliness to make a valuable contribution to the public sector / health-care sector.
One scholarship of $3,500

To qualify, you must have received an offer of admission into Telfer’s full-time MHA program, demonstrate excellence as shown in your academic transcripts and demonstrate involvement in the community and/or in athletics.
One scholarship of $2,000
(No application required)
To qualify, you must have received an offer of admission into Telfer’s full- time MHA program. You’ll be judged on the basis of your achievements and leadership skills, and previous experience as evidenced in your application for the MHA program.

One scholarship of $3,000
To qualify, you must be registered as a full-time student (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) in the Telfer MHA program; be a resident of Ontario; demonstrate a financial need, as determined by uOttawa’s Financial Aid and Awards Service; and possess strong management and leadership potential, as shown in your undergraduate CGPA, GMAT and relevant work experience.

One scholarship of $2,500
To qualify, you must be a full-time student admitted to the uOttawa MHA program, demonstrate leadership potential and academic excellence, be an Ontario resident and demonstrate financial need. You must submit an online application with your CV, a letter of motivation and a written brief on a topic selected by the review committee.
Excellence awards
To recognize outstanding achievement by our MHA students during their studies, we award the following scholarships:
Granted in December

To qualify, you must be a full-time or part-time MHA student and have completed your residency and presented your field project paper to a panel for evaluation. You must submit with your application an executive summary describing an activity or project you’ve been involved in that demonstrates a unique contribution to the field of health services, community development and/or the MHA program.
Granted in May
$1,500
This award was established in 1956 by Johnson & Johnson. It’s presented on a yearly basis to six students — one student from each of the six Canadian universities that offer graduate programs in health services administration. They’re nominated for the valuable contribution they’ll make in the area of health management.

$2,000
To qualify, you must clearly demonstrate your leadership qualities through descriptions of projects and initiatives you’ve led. You must also describe how you intend to exercise your leadership during the administrative residency.

Minimum $2,000
To qualify, you must be enrolled full time or part time in the MBA or MHA program, be Canadian or a permanent resident and demonstrate a financial need.
Granted in April

This award recognizes demonstrated excellence by a student registered in the Telfer MHA program, and it honours Michel Bilodeau’s outstanding career in health care. To qualify, you must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in the MHA program at the time of application and must also participate in an activity, such as a conference or a student competition, as part of your program of study.

One prize of $1,000 to $2,000
The Michael Garron Hospital MHA Award, formerly known as the Toronto East General Hospital MHA Award, is granted once annually to an MHA student completing their residency who has demonstrated innovative health solutions to practical problems encountered during their residency placement.
To be considered for this award, you must be enrolled either full time or part time in the final year of your uOttawa MHA program, have successfully completed your MHA administrative residency and have presented at the uOttawa MHA Field Project Presentation Day. Your presentation must demonstrate innovative health solutions to practical problems encountered during your residency placement, as judged by the selection committee.

$3,500 scholarship
This scholarship was generously created by Ruth Stewart to provide financial assistance to a Telfer MHA student who has previously completed a post-secondary degree in a health sciences discipline.

One scholarship of $7,500
Telfer established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to female second-year students who are enrolled in the Telfer MHA program, are actively engaged in their community and belong to a racialized or Indigenous community.
Application process
Applications for OSOTF scholarships must be submitted to the uOttawa Financial Aid and Awards Service. You must submit an online application by way of your uoZone account.
For the other scholarships, applications are usually solicited by a member of the scholarship committee.

Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP)
The Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) allows people to withdraw up to $10,000 a year tax-free, to a maximum of $20,000, from their registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) to finance training or education for themselves, their spouse or their common-law partner.
You must start to make repayments two years after your last eligible withdrawal, or five years after the first withdrawal, depending on which date comes first.
Amounts withdrawn must be repaid within 10 years.
