MHA Admission Scholarships
The Telfer School of Management’s goal is to attract top quality candidates to its MHA Program. The following scholarships will be awarded by the Admissions Committee to those students who meet the eligibility criteria.
Telfer School of Management Admission Scholarship
$5,000
(no application required)
The applicant must be registered as a full-time student (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) in the MHA program at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa; demonstrate academic excellence and/or excellent GMAT/GRE score; and demonstrate outstanding potential based on the review of the candidate's work experience and motivation.
John A. King MHA Admission Scholarship for Health Care Leadership
1 scholarship. Amount variable.

The candidate must have received an offer of admission into the full-time or part-time MHA program at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa; demonstrate excellence as shown in the applicant's academic transcripts, and relevant work experience. The candidates must demonstrate early in their career, a strong passion for healthcare and a likeliness to make a valuable contribution to the public sector/health care sector.
Laurie Strano Memorial MHA Scholarship
1 scholarship of $3,500.

The candidate must have received an offer of admission into the full-time program at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa; demonstrate excellence as shown in the applicant's academic transcripts, and demonstrate involvement in the community and/or in athletics.
The Ron Sapsford MHA Scholarship for Health Care Leadership

The applicant must have received an offer of admission into the full- or part-time MHA program at the Telfer School of Management. Candidates will be judged on the basis of their achievements and leadership skills, and previous experience as evidenced in their application for the MHA program.
The Soublière Family MHA Scholarship (OSOTF)

The applicant must be registered as a full or part-time student (Canadian citizen or permanent resident) in the MHA program at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa; be a resident of Ontario; demonstrate a financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa and possess a strong management and leadership potential as shown in undergraduate CGPA, GMAT and relevant work experience.
Jack Kitts MHAAA Admission Scholarship (OSOTF)

Full or part-time students admitted to the MHA program of the University of Ottawa that demonstrate leadership potential and academic excellence. Candidates must be Ontario residents and demonstrate financial need. Online application must be submitted with their C.V., a letter of motivation and a written brief on a topic selected by the review committee.

MHA Alumni Association Health Leadership Award
Granted in December

The applicant must be a full-time or part-time MHA student who has completed their residency and presented their fields project paper to a panel for evaluation. Applicants must submit with their applications an executive summary, describing an activity or project that they have been involved in which demonstrates a unique contribution to the field of health services, community development and/or the MHA Program.
Robert Wood Johnson Award
Granted in May
$1,500
This award was established in 1956 by Johnson & Johnson and it is presented on a yearly basis to six students. One student from each of the six Canadian universities that offer graduate programs in health services administration, they are nominated for the valuable contribution that will make in the area of health management.
Michel Lalonde MHA Scholarship

The applicants must clearly demonstrate their leadership qualities through descriptions of projects and initiatives they have led. Applicants must also describe how they intend to exercise their leadership during the Administrative Residency.
The Ian Telfer Scholarship for MBA and MHA Students (OSOTF)

The applicant must be registered full-time or part-time in the MBA or MHA program, be Canadian or a permanent resident and demonstrate a financial need.
Michel Bilodeau Award
Granted in April

This award recognizes demonstrated excellence by a student registered in the Master of Health Administration program at the Telfer School of Management while honoring Michel Bilodeau's outstanding career in healthcare. The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at the time of application and must also participate in an activity as part of their program of study, such as a conference or a student competition.
Michael Garron Hospital MHA Award
Granted in December
1 prize of $1000 to $2000
The Michael Garron Hospital MHA Award formerly known as the “The Toronto East General Hospital MHA Award” is granted once annually to an MHA student completing their residency who demonstrated innovative health solutions to practical problems encountered during their residency placement.
In order to be considered for this award the student must be enrolled either full-time or part-time at the University of Ottawa in the final year of their MHA program; successfully completed their MHA administrative residency; presented at the University of Ottawa “MHA Field Project Presentation Day”. The applicant’s presentation must demonstrate innovative health solutions to practical problems encountered during their residency placement, as judged by the selection committee.
Ruth Stewart MHA Scholarship

$3,500 scholarship
This scholarship was generously created by Ms. Ruth Stewart to provide financial assistance to an MHA student at the Telfer School of Management who has previously completed a postsecondary degree in a health sciences discipline.
Telfer MHA Diversity & Equity Scholarship for Women
Application deadline: TBA
1 scholarship of $7500
The Telfer School of Management established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to second-year female students who are actively engaged in their community and belong to a racialized or Indigenous community while being enrolled in the Telfer School of Management's MHA program at the University of Ottawa.
Application Process
Applications for the scholarships OSOTF must be submitted to the Financial Aid and Awards Office of the University of Ottawa. Students must submit an online application by way of their uoZone (Infoweb).
For the other scholarships, the applications are usually solicited by a member of the scholarship committee.

Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP)
The Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) allows individuals to withdraw funds up to $10,000 a year, tax free, to a maximum of $20,000 from their Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) to finance training or education for themselves or their spouse or common-law partner.
Participants must start to make repayments two years after their last eligible withdrawal, or five years after the first withdrawal, depending on which due date comes first.
Amounts withdrawn must be repaid within 10 years.
