Simon Hagens
Biography
Simon Hagens is a principal at Hagens Consulting, working with governments, national organizations and grassroots groups on performance measurement, organizational design and driving transformation. He helps clients define meaningful outcomes, build the required culture and accountability, and tell stories that resonate with boards, funders and communities.
Hagens brings 25 years leading performance, evaluation and change in the public interest. At Canada Health Infoway, most recently as vice president, performance, he built a national performance management system to demonstrate return on public investment and produced the evidence base behind more than $600 million in federal investment decisions. He also served on the board of a community health organization for a decade, including three years as board chair.
At Telfer, Hagens works with colleagues on research in digital health, performance measurement and health policy. He also contributes through guest lectures and conference presentations. His research explores diffusion of innovation in health care to identify factors for success and strategies to overcome barriers. Recent areas of focus include uptake of AI scribes by clinicians, virtual care preferences for patients and sharing of health data.
