Biography
Sijia Fan is a Lecturer in Finance at the Telfer School of Management. She received her PhD in applied economics and management, with a concentration in finance, from the SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. She also holds a master’s degree in operations research and information engineering from Cornell and a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Skidmore College.
Fan’s research lies in corporate finance, asset pricing and sustainable finance. She focuses on how climate risk affects firm recovery, investor learning and capital allocation, and on how institutional design and investor demand jointly shape market responses to emerging risks. Her current work examines how firms disclose biodiversity risk exposure, how investor and stakeholder demand affect disclosure choices and how these disclosures influence investors’ perceptions of emerging risks.
She has presented her research at events such as conferences of the Northern Finance Association, Eastern Finance Association and American Finance Association, and the National Bureau of Economic Research PhD Student Workshop on Climate Finance.
