Karen has been in the role of Executive in Residence since 2021 and is a graduate of Telfer's EMBA Program. She currently serves as Associate Director of the Executive MHA program where she brings extensive experience as a healthcare administrator, leader, and educator. She has been employed nationally and internationally in the areas of pediatric and adult inpatient and outpatient healthcare, in mental health programs, within school settings and in the correctional system. From 2015-2020 Karen held the position of Executive Director at Stanford Healthcare in Palo Alto California where she led the Department of Social Work, Case Management, Spiritual Care and Aging Adult Services. She has taught in the MSW programs at the University of Calgary and Carleton University as well as in Telfer's MHA program. Karen is a Board member of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Healthcare and has served as a Board member of Ottawa Inner City Health, CMHA Ottawa, Hospice Care Ottawa, as well as the Faculty for the Society’s Leadership Institutes in Seattle, Toronto, Los Angeles and Chicago.
