Two new research laboratories have been awarded to Telfer School of Management professors through the Leader’s Opportunity Fund of the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the Ontario Research Fund.

Directed by Professor Morad Benyoucef, the e-Marketplaces for Safe and Fair Trade (e-MP) Laboratory received funding in the amount of $39,000. The e-MP Lab will research the design, development, and usability of electronic marketplaces (e-marketplaces) as the main trade infrastructures of the future, concentrating on their safety and fairness. The goal of this initiative is to take full advantage of the capabilities of e-business, addressing the frequent lack of trust between trading partners in online business interactions, and providing trading partners with e-negotiation services.

Professor Michalowski’s MET Research: Computing Laboratory to Support Clinical Decision Making at the Point of Care in the Emergency Department received $104,000 in funding. The laboratory will support research on providing decision support to emergency physicians at the point of care by facilitating access to a distributed repository of shared data and clinical knowledge. For this project, Dr. Michalowski partnered with scientists from the University of Ottawa School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

The Telfer School of Management is looking forward to the exciting research projects that will come from these high tech laboratories and congratulates both researchers for their dedication and creativity.
