Wayne Corneil

Biography

Wayne Corneil is an adjunct professor in the Telfer School of Management and a researcher with the LIFE Research Institute at the University of Ottawa.

He conducts research and program evaluation on workplace psychosocial interventions and on individual and organizational resilience. More recently, he has been looking at well-being in the workplace, including the impact of hybrid work and the introduction of AI. He has been a principal investigator on the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada’s Executive Work and Health Survey from 1995 to the current 2027 iteration. He is also the principal investigator for the Canadian Study on the Wellbeing of Solo Retirees.

Corneil provides consulting, including facilitating training for public-and private-sector organizations on mental health in the workplace, creating psychologically safe workplaces, resilience, psychosocial preparation for retirement, and crisis leadership.

He spent 32 years in a variety of senior positions with Health Canada at the regional, national and international levels. He held responsibilities in occupational health and safety, quarantine and emergency health services.

Corneil has a doctorate in epidemiology and occupational health psychology from Johns Hopkins University as well as professional degrees in psychotherapy, social work, criminology and adult education.
