MSc HS students develop valuable insight through internships

MSC HS post-internship presenters with Laura Steadman and Professor Lavagnon Ika

The Telfer School of Management is pleased to celebrate the achievements of the exceptional Master of Science in Health Systems (MSc HS) students who delivered their post-Internship presentations on March 28, 2024. Congratulations to Catherine Kadamani, Hannah Wotherspoon, Meggie Gilmour, Suraj Brar, and Toussaint Iratomoye of the 2022 cohort, who showcased their dedication and hard work through insightful research and compelling presentations.

Our MSc HS students engage in a comprehensive research internship as an integral component of their program. During this internship, they delve into either a significant research question or a problem within a reputable research institution. While some internships may directly align with their thesis topic, others offer diverse exploration beyond their thesis scope. Primarily, these internships provide invaluable real-world exposure, equipping our students with practical skills and insights into the role of researcher.

Typically undertaken during the spring/summer term, students cap off their internship with a concise 10-minute presentation during the winter semester, allowing them to reflect on and share their enriching experiences with peers and faculty.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the following research institutions for generously offering internships to our students: Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute, Bruyère Research Institute, Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de l’Outaouais, North American Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, and the Department of National Defence. Your support and commitment to fostering hands-on learning experiences are truly appreciated.

We offer our warmest congratulations to these talented individuals for completing successful internships and for their outstanding contributions to academia.
