Telfer BCom introduces winter admission pathway

A group of Telfer BCom students and Professor Stephen Daze gathered around a table, smiling and discussing a presentation on a screen.

While Telfer School of Management undergraduate students typically begin their Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program in the fall, some students may benefit from winter admission. The Winter Admission Pathway allows students to start studies in January to catch up, at the beginning of their third year, with the cohort admitted in the fall term. This timeline offers greater flexibility while ensuring the same fulfilling student experience.

Starting in the winter provides flexibility for students needing more time after high school for various reasons, such as work, travel, or personal commitments. It can also benefit students who didnt get accepted into their preferred program initially or missed fall application deadlines. Additionally, it helps international students who may still be waiting for their Canadian study permit to be finalized. Students who may have struggled academically in high school can use the extra few months to improve their academic skills or take preparatory courses such as Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).

Several scholarships are available throughout the year, so there are still plenty of opportunities to earn academic scholarships to help fund your studies.

Complete your first-year courses in the winter and fall terms of the same calendar year. Then, take your second-year courses in the subsequent winter and spring-summer terms. By the first term of your second year, you’ll be in the same classes as most of your classmates who started their first year of studies in the fall.
