About the Program

The Advanced Leadership Certificate in Healthcare, designed and delivered by the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management, is an exciting new learning component available as part of a second year track of the Faculty of Medicine’s Clinical Fellowship. Coming together as two faculties, our collective mission is to cultivate world-class clinical leaders who can drive positive change in healthcare organizations, equipping them to excel in both clinical and leadership roles.

The Advanced Leadership Certificate in Healthcare goes above and beyond the development of leadership skills as an individual physician, department head, multi-person team member or education lead. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining theoretical and applied perspectives on leadership in personal, supervisory, team, and strategic contexts. Fellows build foundational skills to navigate and lead within the healthcare system, becoming strategic decision-makers and advocates for organizational change. The Certificate program provides Fellows with the competencies needed to run complex, multi-department healthcare institutions at the most senior levels. It also acknowledges that the context of healthcare delivery is deeply shaped by political, cultural, and socio-economic dynamics.

Offered in partnership with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine.
