The Telfer Student Council proudly hosted the second annual Strat24 Case Competition on January 21 and 22, 2011. Strat24 is the University of Ottawa’s first ever multidisciplinary 24-hour academic competition for Management and Engineering students.
The Telfer Student Council along with the Engineering Student Society teamed up pairs of management and engineering students to tackle a sustainability business challenge. The teams were lucky to have the opportunity to research a live case on SolPowered Energy Corporation. Thanks to the support of SolPowered’s CEO, Mike Perrault, and VP Sales and Partner, Suzzane Cyr, the live case was a substantial learning experience for the 32 participants. Thanks to Professor David Wright from the Telfer School of Management, and Professor André Skaff from the Faculty of Engineering, for judging the competition this year.
Of the eight teams that participated, one stood out among the rest, winning first place and a $4000 scholarship jointly donated by the Telfer School of Management and Faculty of Engineering. Congratulations to Alan Auyeung, Sara Rahme, Marco Tundo, and Heather Whyte for their 1st place win.
Danielle Morin, the President of Strat24 for the Telfer Student Council has worked hard all year to make this competition possible, and to help build up the connect between management and engineering students. The success of this event is the product of 32 brilliant participants, support from both faculties, student associations, SolPowered Energy Corporation, and most of all, the dedication of my organizing committee: Stéphane Bilodeau, Jen Butson, Nick Crawford, Ellen Dalicandro, and Alex McRae.”
