The Green Academy at Telfer
Empowering the next generation of sustainable leaders.
Welcome to The Green Academy at Telfer, an interdisciplinary initiative designed to shape the next generation of sustainable leaders. Launching in Fall 2025, the Academy will prepare students to tackle global environmental challenges through experiential education, hands-on learning, cross-faculty collaboration and real-world projects. Students will gain a strong foundation in sustainable business, systems thinking and responsible management while working with industry partners and community organizations to make a real difference.

Already, we’re empowering students through sustainability-driven research, community engagement and hands-on learning. The Green Academy at Telfer will also support faculty by providing funding, expert speakers and curriculum resources to integrate sustainability into their courses. More than just a program, the Academy will serve as a vibrant hub that connects students, faculty, and industry to bridge business education with actionable sustainability.

In collaboration with CSIID
The Green Academy at Telfer is powered by a close collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Impact and Innovation in Development (CSIID), a leader in advancing sustainable business practices that benefit both society and the environment. CSIID works at the intersection of research, education and outreach to create positive impacts for both current and future generations.
Through this partnership, Telfer students benefit from access to applied research projects, workshops, policy labs and mentorship opportunities that strengthen their understanding of impact-driven leadership. This collaboration ensures that The Green Academy at Telfer is deeply rooted in real-world transformation, helping students link their academic experience to systems-level change, both locally and globally.
PRME Report
Since 2018, a core group of Telfer professors have been working together to more deliberately integrate sustainability, social responsibility and good governance into their research, into Telfer programs, and in alumni and community outreach initiatives. Their group has since grown to include one quarter of Telfer professors, collectively publishing over 80 journal articles, securing over $27 million in research funding, hosting more than 90 community projects, forging over 100 new partnerships and orchestrating more than 50 events.
In support of Telfer’s values and objectives, the group has aligned their work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), signed the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), and helped shape Telfer’s vision for a greener Canada.
