On International Women’s Day (March 8, 2011), the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, announced funding to Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT). CanWIT will receive $285,245 from Status of Women Canada for a national project that will help to “kick-start” the careers of young women entering jobs in the technology industry. The project will feature both an e-mentoring component as well as sessions across Canada. Under the supervision of Dr. Joanne Leck, Telfer students Lacey de Sousa, Brittany Rockwell and Sasha Saunders are working with CanWIT to understand how to best match mentors and protégés. Dr. Barbara Orser is a longstanding member of the CanWIT National Advisory Board.
