“Interview with Dean François Julien”
François Julien’s term as dean began on January 1. The first Franco-Ontarian to hold this position, he has been a professor in the Telfer School of Management for twenty years, and has more than a dozen years’ university management experience. As associate dean (programs) and vice-dean of the Telfer School from January 2005 until June 2010, he was involved in planning, coordinating and supervising all of its programs. During his tenure, he oversaw the creation of the School’s first two research-based programs, the MSc in Management and the MSc in Health Systems. He also was responsible for the revision of all program content offered by the School, and contributed significantly to the quality of the student experience through initiatives such as the creation of the Personal and Leadership Development Program.
Professor Julien teaches in the fields of production and operations management, management sciences and business communications. His research interests include production planning and scheduling and operations management in general, and his work has been published in Management Science, the Journal of Production and Operations Management and IIE Transactions.
