The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is pleased to announce that it will create The BDO Accounting Scholarship thanks to a $56,000 donation from BDO Canada LLP. The donation will support one exceptional accounting student per year, in perpetuity, with a $2,000 scholarship and a Co-Op placement with BDO.
BDO Canada’s gift will create scholarships for the most deserving and motivated accounting students, actively supporting and encouraging academic excellence, initiative, diligence and leadership among Canada’s next generation of accounting leaders. The scholarship will provide students with financial support and reward those who distinguish themselves through academic merit and who demonstrate a record of involvement at school and in the community.
“Over the last several years, BDO has built a strong relationship with the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. Its program produces a high calibre of young, up-and-coming, bilingual accounting professionals whom we have found are a great fit with our firm. As a result, we are very excited to establish the new BDO Canada LLP accounting scholarship at the Telfer School” said Keith Farlinger, CEO of BDO in Canada. “The scholarship’s recipient will be guaranteed a four-month placement at one of our local offices with the potential to establish a full-time career with BDO.”
“The Telfer School is very grateful to BDO Canada for this gift which demonstrates the firm’s desire to invest in deserving students, recognizing their achievements and encourage ongoing excellence” said François Julien, Acting Dean at the Telfer School. “Our scholarship program is designed to support the extraordinary promise that talented young people show in making major contributions to their chosen professions.”
Additionally this gift will strengthen the Telfer School’s ability to support the best students, continue to set increasingly higher standards of academic excellence, and enrich the world of business through quality graduates.
