The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is an extraordinary way to honour outstanding Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life, who have built and continue to build our caring society through their service and achievements. It acknowledges the fact that in order to build a strong country, we must first have strong communities.
Dr. Nasir Islam has been recognized with this prestigious medal as an active and engaged member of his community for many years. As a professor of Governance and Public Policy at the Telfer School of Management, he has spent his career educating students about politics and culture, with a specific focus on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
His academic excellence has been recognized with several awards, including the Prix Pierre de Celles Award for Excellence in Teaching Public Administration. As a Board Member of The Ottawa Hospital, he has worked hard to ensure that our community's health care needs are accessible and of the highest quality.
