In this session, students will learn the basic skills needed to go beyond Google Scholar and take advantage of the many subscription databases available to them through the Library. By the end of this session students can expect to be able to:

  • Make the most of Google Scholar and recognize when a Library database is likely to be more effective
  • Select an appropriate database for their research topic
  • Take a research question and turn it into an effective literature search strategy using Boolean operators and special characters
  • Use search filters to refine search results

The session will be presented by Emily Da Silva, a Research Librarian at the Telfer Management Library.
