Biographie
Shantanu Dutta est professeur titulaire de finance et récipiendaire de la bourse Ian-Telfer en finance internationale. Il a déjà enseigné à l’Institut universitaire de technologie de l’Ontario, à l’Université St. Francis Xavier, en Nouvelle-Écosse, et à l’Université Assomption, à Bangkok, comme membre du corps professoral à temps plein. Avant de faire carrière dans le milieu universitaire, il a occupé les fonctions de directeur financier et de contrôleur de projets chez Lafarge, chef de file mondial dans le secteur des matériaux de construction. Ses travaux ont été publiés dans Financial Management, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Review of Economics and Finance, Economic Letters, Finance Research Letters, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Multinational Finance Journal, Information Systems Frontiers, Global Finance Journal, Corporate Governance - An International Review (CGIR), International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, Journal of Applied Finance et International Journal of Technology Transfer. Le professeur Dutta a également participé et présenté des articles à de nombreuses conférences savantes. Il a reçu des subventions du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines ainsi que le prix de recherche de Barclays Global Investors Canada, en 2006, pour le meilleur article traitant du marché canadien des valeurs mobilières. Il a également obtenu le Prix d’excellence en recherche de l’École de gestion Telfer en 2016 et le Prix d’excellence en 2021.
Intérêts de recherche
Shantanu Dutta s’intéresse à l’application de l’apprentissage automatique et du traitement automatique des langues dans divers domaines : décisions financières, fusions et acquisitions, irrégularités financières, couverture médiatique et décisions financières, gouvernance des entreprises, efficience des marchés, politiques de dividende et gestion des technologies. Il est chercheur principal ou co-chercheur dans le cadre de projets bénéficiant de subventions du Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines et de subventions de recherche de l’École de gestion Telfer. Ces projets portent sur les réunions privées, les irrégularités financières et l’influence de la presse écrite et des médias sociaux sur les décisions financières.
Enseignement
Le professeur Dutta enseigne des cours sur la finance au niveau du premier cycle ainsi qu’au niveau du MBA et du doctorat à l’École Telfer. Il a donné des cours de niveau MBA sur la gestion financière ainsi que des cours sur la gouvernance d'entreprise, la finance entrepreneuriale, les fusions et acquisitions, la gestion de finance internationale et les applications de pointe en matière de gestion financière dans d’autres institutions avant de se joindre à l’École.
