Lamia Chourou est titulaire d’un doctorat en comptabilité de l’Université Queen’s (2014) et un doctorat en finance de l’Université de Tunis (2008). Ses recherches portent sur les marchés financiers et plus particulièrement sur la divulgation de renseignements par les sociétés, la qualité des rapports financiers et les prévisions des analystes. Elle a publié des articles dans des revues citées comme le Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, le Journal of Business Ethics, l’International Review of Financial Analysis et la Revue canadienne des sciences administratives. Ses recherches actuelles, financées par le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada (CRSH), visent à examiner les incitatifs et les obligations des banques commerciales pour déceler les fausses déclarations financières de leurs clients et à explorer le rôle du banquier et des relations institutionnelles en cas d’émergence de soupçons de fraude. La professeure Chourou était auparavant titulaire d’une bourse en enseignement à l’école de gestion de l’Université Queen’s. Elle enseignait la comptabilité financière intermédiaire à l’école de gestion de l’Université Queen’s et plusieurs cours connexes à l’étranger. Elle a reçu plusieurs prix prestigieux et bourses, notamment du gouvernement de l’Ontario, de l’Université Queen’s et de l’Association canadienne des professeurs de comptabilité (ACPC).
