Quynh Pham, PhD
La population du Canada vieillit et se diversifie sur le plan ethnoculturel, ce qui concorde avec une hausse des maladies chroniques. Les soins virtuels, émergents avant la crise de la COVID-19, sont maintenant devenus une nécessité. Or, on a longtemps négligé les besoins des communautés minoritaires en matière de produits et de services de santé virtuels. En effet, le concept d’« autogestion des soins » dans le cas de maladies chroniques doit aussi englober la famille chez bon nombre des membres de ces communautés. Les aidantes et aidants naturels font partie intégrante des équipes soignantes, et peuvent combler le fossé entre les besoins de la clientèle et les capacités en soins virtuels. Pour bien des patientes et patients, une prise en charge familiale active se traduira par une autogestion et des résultats supérieurs à ce qu’on observe chez les personnes qui gèrent seules leur maladie chronique. Ce séminaire explore la façon dont les soins virtuels axés sur la famille dans la gestion des maladies chroniques peuvent améliorer la santé des communautés minoritaires.
À propos du conférenciere
Dr. Quynh Pham is a Scientist at the University Health Network and the Director and Principal Investigator of the Centre for Digital Therapeutics. She is also the Director of Evaluation and Research at Stepped Care Solutions, a not-for-profit mental health organization and the lead representative partner on Wellness Together Canada, the Government of Canada’s mental health response to COVID-19. Dr. Pham is an Assistant Professor and the Faculty Lead of the Health Informatics Research program with the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University Toronto. She is a proud alumna of the University of Ottawa and holds an Adjunct Professor appointment with the Telfer School of Management. Dr. Pham’s program of research focuses on building novel digital therapeutics to support patients and families manage the impact of chronic disease on their health and wellbeing. In recent years, she has expanded my portfolio to focus on family-centered digital health for older ethnic adults and their family caregivers.
Dr. Pham completed an Honours BSc with a Double Major in Biochemistry and Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She holds an MSc in Transcultural Mental Healthcare from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. She earned her PhD in Health Services Research with a Specialization in Health Informatics Research from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
