About this session:

In this session, you will learn about the opportunity that exists for uOttawa researchers, students and alumni in Kanata North – Canada’s Largest Tech Hub and how uOttawa Kanata North engages industry partners in a campus wide approach that helps them grow their teams, upskill their teams and enable innovation.

About uOttawa Kanata North:

The most successful technology ecosystems around the world are defined by the close integration of industry and universities. uOttawa-Kanata North Campus is an ideal environment to provide talent, learning and solutions to Kanata North companies to help them succeed. At the same time, situating the University campus close to Canada’s largest cluster of innovative companies enables uOttawa academics to observe shifts in technology trends faster, thereby accelerating research breakthroughs and innovation.

Kyle Bournes is Senior Specialist, Partnerships with the University of Ottawa’s Kanata North campus team. He is a community connector and partnership builder in Canada’s Largest Tech Hub and works to connect industry partners with the University of Ottawa’s research teams, and the next generation of talent – uOttawa’s outstanding students! He is heavily involved in discovering new collaborative opportunities for uOttawa with Kanata North based companies and engaging them in new partnerships that drive innovation. Prior to his current role, for over a decade Kyle led alumni and industry engagement in uOttawa’s Faculty of Engineering where he also helped design, build and secure $1.5M in funding from alumni-donors to establish the MakerLaunch startup accelerator. His journey at uOttawa started in 2007 in the Development Office where he supported the university’s fundraising efforts.
