The Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada) recently announced that Telfer undergraduate students enrolled in the Management Consulting Microprogram now have an accelerated path to designation as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).

As an academic partner in CMC-Canada’s exclusive Academic Partner Program (APP), the University of Ottawa has demonstrated its commitment to equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for professional success. This partnership allows academic institutions like the Telfer School of Management to align their courses with the pathway to earning CMC designation.

“Microprogram students have been benefiting from the partnership with CMC-Canada through mentorship by Certified Management Consultants (CMCs) and Fellow CMCs (FCMCs). We are thrilled to deepen this collaboration, which now provides our microprogram graduates with a pathway to earning the CMC designation," said Vickie Lemire, manager of Telfer’s Microprogram Management Consulting.

This exciting new recognition builds on Telfer School of Management’s ongoing relationship with CMC-Canada. Telfer’s MBA students in the Management Consulting Concentration can graduate with the maximum number of equivalencies toward achieving the CMC designation. Now, students in the undergraduate Management Consulting Microprogram can also benefit from a structured pathway to this prestigious credential.

“As a long-time management consultant, I appreciate sharing my experience with our students at both levels, to teach them the process of management consulting, as well as what the industry is really like. We emphasize experiential learning and complex case studies to bring the academic materials alive for the students. This prepares them for a position with consulting firms of any size or area of practice,” says part-time professor Murray Kronick, FCMC, ICMCI Academic Fellow.

“Expanding our CMC course equivalencies into the undergrad program at Telfer is an exciting opportunity for students, allowing them to work toward both their program graduation and their CMC designation. This initiative supports our commitment to enhancing the Academic Partnership Program (APP) at CMC-Canada, ensuring that even more students have access to the resources and opportunities needed to embark on their journey toward becoming certified management consultants. The consulting profession is evolving at a rapid pace and providing young professionals with the foundational teachings of the CMC designation early on in their careers offers them a path to credibility with an added layer of readiness as they enter the job market.
We are proud to continue our partnership with the Telfer School of Management, and to provide a pathway to the CMC designation for more Telfer students,” said Donna Ringrose, Executive Director, CMC-Canada.
