Telfer Supports Businesses in Developing Sustainable Strategies
The Telfer School of Management is the proud presenting sponsor of a series of four webcasts powered by The Globe and Mail Events. Each webcast highlights one of the four pillars in Telfer’s Vision for a Better Canada — a greener, healthier, happier, wealthier and more prosperous Canada for all — through an interview with a professor, followed by a discussion with a panel of experts.
The next and last webcast in the series, highlighting our Greener pillar, will take place on April 13, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. With the theme of “Net-Zero Energy: What will it take?”, the free virtual event will feature energy and sustainability leaders from diverse backgrounds to discuss the main obstacles to decarbonizing energy in Canada and share their insights on how we can ensure a cleaner and more sustainable energy sector.
The panel will feature uOttawa’s Monica Gattinger, Founder & Chair of Positive Energy, Director of the Institute for Science, Society & Policy and Full Professor at the School of Political Studies at the Faculty of Social Science. The Globe and Mail sat down with Professor Gattinger, a proud Telfer alumna, to learn more about the work of Positive Energy and how the research is supporting Telfer’s Vision for a Better Canada.
According to Professor Gattinger, business schools like Telfer and the University of Ottawa can play an important role in engaging and supporting businesses in achieving net-zero. “The role of business in society has always been central to our work, and so Positive Energy’s work aligns closely with Telfer’s vision. We’re working to identify how we can have a prosperous, vibrant energy sector in Canada, developed in an environmentally responsible way.” shares the award-winning researcher.
