Listen to Mariam Hussein share why she chose to focus her research on improving navigation of the health system for newcomers to Canada, and why she chose Telfer to pursue her PhD. Mariam is currently enrolled in Telfer’s PhD in Management in the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources (OBHR) stream, under the supervision of Sharon L. O’Sullivan, professor of OBHR at the Telfer School of Management.

Along with their work on advanced analytics and machine learning models to support health care systems, Telfer researchers are also examining the human factors involved. They are focusing on aspects like cultural intelligence, communication and empathy to ensure quality health care for all Canadians.
