Dean François Julien

I want to take this opportunity to personally thank our outgoing Vice-Dean (Research), Professor Martine Spence. Martine led the development of faculty standards of research performance and she put in place an organizational structure that supports leadership in our research-based graduate programs and leverages the impact of Telfer research.

Over the course of her mandate, we became a significantly more research-intensive business school. Her four eventful years at the helm of research development coincided with a period of phenomenal growth and change at the Telfer School, starting with the creation with our Strategic Areas of Excellence and continuing with the development of our Ph.D. in Management program.

Martine was dedicated to fostering deeper linkages with the community, she offered valuable mentorship to young faculty, and she highlighted the excellence of our research culture. She realized these accomplishments while continuing her teaching and her research on SMEs and sustainable management. She earns the deepest appreciation of the faculty. Congratulations and thank you Martine!
