The Montfort Renaissance (MRI) support services for seniors teams and their partner Retraite en Action (Retreat in Action) are working Michel Tremblay having a videochat conversation over a laptop to re-establish "Mon centre à distance" through an online platform where seniors can talk to each other about different topics.

Michel Tremblay, a 2009 graduate of Telfer's Executive MBA program and Director of organizational development at MRI, shared this programming adapted to the current situation with us. The Centre de services Guigues (CSG), now combined with Montfort Renaissance, and Retraite en Action had to temporarily stop their social activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The CSG team, therefore, had to roll up their sleeves to meet the needs of the clientele.

"Mon centre à distance"

"The ‘Mon centre à distance’ concept was successfully completed in the winter of 2019, but the pilot project finished with the end of the grant. We decided to relaunch it for Francophone seniors who are homebound," said MRI's Executive Director, Jeanne-Hélène Tardivel. She went on to say that "the programming will take into consideration various types of needs: varied cultural and social presentations, discussion and support groups, and games that can meet several types of clientele.”

"For Retraite en Action (REA), it is an excellent way to continue to provide our members with opportunities to exchange, learn, share ideas and break isolation," says Anne-Marie Laurendeau, Executive Director of REA.

Finally, the team of employees and volunteers worked together to contact the most vulnerable people by phone to maintain a support network and ensure that they have the support they need to reduce the feeling of loneliness during this exceptional period.
