Health systems and services increasingly recognize the urgent need to identify and address the social determinants of health in order to optimize personal and population health outcomes. The challenge of translating research into practice can be successfully surmounted, given a comprehensive and holistic view of health, structured data, and robust analytics and pattern discovery. This presentation will provide research and practice examples before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
About the Speaker
Karen A. Monsen is Professor at the University of Minnesota (UMN) School of Nursing; chair of the Population Health and Systems Cooperative; director of the Center for Nursing Informatics and the Omaha System Partnership research network; and coordinator of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Nursing Informatics specialty. She directs the Omaha System Partnership, an international, interprofessional practice-based research network.
