Pathways to Leadership and Entrepreneurship - A Conversation with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Women Happier

uOttawa's International Womxn's Week in partnership with Invest Ottawa

Date & Time

March 3, 2021
(EST)

On Wednesday, March 3, at 12:00 PM, in the week of celebration of “womxn” and gender awareness, the Institute for Science, Society and Policy, in collaboration with the Idea Connector Network, will host a panel with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous experts. Indigenous experts will provide their perspectives on “Education and Skills Development", "Business Success", and "Women and Human Rights," and Non-Indigenous experts will provide perspectives on “Developing Leadership Skills” and “Opening Doors.”

This event features two representatives from the Telfer community:

  • Sophia Leong (EMBA 1995), Executive Lead, Development & International Affairs, Professional Development Institute at uOttawa
  • Sandra Schillo, Core member of the ISSP and Associate Professor at the Telfer School of Management, uOttawa

Why 'Womxn'

The word “womxn” is an alternative term to the English language word “women.” We use this term to explicitly include those who identify as women, transgender women, women of colour and non-binary individuals. This choice supports our concerted effort to create a culture of belonging.

Invest Ottawa and the University of Ottawa

On March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day. This year from March 1 – 9, Invest Ottawa with its partners will run the 3rd Annual International Womxn’s Week (IWW) with a shared goal - to inspire, equip and empower womxn professionally. It will take all of us working together to expedite change. That is why the University of Ottawa is partnering with Invest Ottawa to bring nine jam-packed days of virtual events to you. Click here to visit the Invest Ottawa website to learn more and teo register for events, and click here to learn more about Telfer's participation in IWW.
