What would you say was the craziest or most unique experience you have had while vacationing?

One of my fondest memories of vacationing was when we spent one week in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. It is a preserved area of wilderness where there is an abundance of African wild animals in their natural habitat. During our stay, we had a night of heavy rainfall and all the soil had become quite slippery making it extremely hard to walk or drive. During our morning safari the next day our convoy of safari vans kept over turning. I remember my baby sister being fished out the window and the rest of us holding on for dear life as the group pulled the van upright again. When we finally were able to get back to the resort and looked forward to cleaning up, we learned that an elephant had stepped on the water pipes and all we were getting is muddy water to rinse ourselves off.

What made you decide to enroll within the Telfer Executive MBA program?

My reason for doing an MBA was to gain a strong sense of business acumen that I am not currently gaining in a day-to-day activities. Looking at the curriculum of the Telfer Executive MBA I was sure that this is the place to obtain exactly what I am looking for with regards knowledge and skills. The numerous hands-on consulting projects in different areas and sectors of business really sold me on this program. I feel that they provide a great opportunity to showcase what you’ve learned and they have the potential to turn into real-life career opportunities.

What do you admire in a leader or mentor? Do you have someone who you consider a strong leader or mentor within your life?

In my view a mentor’s main qualities are approachability, ability to listen and willingness to share their experience and knowledge. A mentor provides objective and fair advice while still being compassionate. The relationship between a mentor and mentee is a foundation built on trust and credibility. A mentor is someone who is always willing to vouch for their mentee.

I have been lucky to have found a mentor who embodies all these qualities.
