What would you say was the craziest or most unique experience you have had while vacationing Joanne?
The craziest and most fun experience I had while traveling was deciding to get married while living in Tanzania. While I was working, my husband had planned us a romantic private wedding on the beach of Mafia Island. We also discovered that we were expecting our first child during that weekend. It was quite the moment when we called our families back home to share in all of our news.
There are many compelling reasons to undertake an Executive MBA Program. What is your goal for the Telfer Executive MBA Program?
My career ambition is to lead a B-Corps company. It will focus on building sustainable and inclusive communities by working where the social profit and the corporate business worlds intersect. With that in mind, my goal of the Telfer Executive MBA Program is to strengthen my fundamental business skills and develop the analytical skills. The expectation is that it will increase my ability to develop innovative strategic programs that focus on both social and financial return on investment.
Is there any not-for-profit organizations or clubs which you support? What draws you to this cause?
I currently volunteer and support the Parkdale Food Centre (PFC). It is an organization which provides people with emergency access to high-quality food in a dignified setting that doesn’t compromise their self-worth. I am drawn to PFC’s community focus and I admire how PFC believes in people’s abilities to take care of their own needs. Our community kitchen brings neighbours together to grow, cook and share healthy and affordable nutritious food. Our Food & Finance program teaches children financial literacy while growing healthy food.
