Shahab Namdarizandi

Shahab, thinking back to your adolescence was there a particular job you dreamed of doing when you grew up?

I wanted to be a royal prince when I was a younger age. Unfortunately I was not born from a royal line so that option was out of the question but it was a small detail that wasn't going to stop me. On more than one occasion I would convince my cousins that it would be fun for them to carry me on a chair around the house. I was living the great life until one day the chair slipped from their grasp and I fell to the floor and broke my arm in the process. Despite these setbacks, to this day I am still trying to accomplish that goal.

There are many compelling reasons to undertake an Executive MBA Program. What is your goal for the Telfer Executive MBA Program?

My goal for the Telfer Executive MBA Program is to grow as an individual by learning from the vast amount of experience that my peers and the professors will share throughout the program. I want to equally share what I have learned and experienced in order to gain the opinion of others and  increase the efficiency of my decision-making process. I also want to experience working in a diverse environment in order to further expand my thought process. I am hoping that it will be an eventful 21 months.

What do you admire in a leader or mentor? Do you have someone who you consider a strong mentor or leader within your life?

What I admire most in a leader is someone who is not afraid to make the tough decisions. I think a great leader is someone who is confident in situations where others are not as confident. A leader is someone who is strong, decisive and willing to take the risk, including the consequences, of every action. A leader is someone who considers the benefits of the group above their personal gain. I am fortunate to have many family and friends, who in my opinion, are strong leaders and mentors that I can rely on and who open the door for me in a time of need. I believe a true leader is someone who is willing to teach others and share their experience so that others can prevail.
