Deepali Bhatt

Deepali, turning to a global perspective, have you traveled to a particular location which you would highly recommend to others? Is there any particular advice on accommodations, attractions or local cuisine you can suggest?

My favorite travel destination is Jaipur, the capital city of the western state of Rajasthan in India. It is a city of grand palaces, colorful turbans, congested bazars full of authentic Indian jewellery, gemstones, clothes and saree clad, beautiful Indian women. I would recommend staying at The Oberoi Rajvilas, previously an old Rajasthani fort at Naila. A must try is a Rajasthani thaali consisting of 35 varieties of food. Stay at a premier room which boasts a central courtyard with a garden and fountain and engage in historical discourse about the royal kingdom of Jaipur by eminent historian at the property.

There are many compelling reasons to undertake an Executive MBA Program. What is your goal for the Telfer Executive MBA Program?

I have set three goals for myself while I am in the Telfer Executive MBA Program.

The first is a learning goal where I acquire the technical skills, functional and business knowledge and ability to apply critical thinking to management scenarios.

The second is a personal goal where I graduate of the Program with a well-rounded personality and possessing strong leadership and communication skills. Personally, I know my focus will be on developing emotional intelligence to be able manage a department or an organisation with compassion.

The third and most important goal is a career goal where I am able to transition to a different industry and hold a career that allows me to effectively apply all the skills I have acquired in the Program.

Deepali, is there any not-for profit organizations or clubs which you support? What draws you to this cause?

I strongly support Ottawa International Children’s Festival.  The festival weaves together a collage of cultures and talents from across Canada and the world. I am drawn to this cause because of my previous work with the Festival as a Marketing Coordinator and I understand that their fine plays provide children with an invigorating experience. This cause is close to my heart because in the era of technology explosion, an art-like theatre can facilitate children to explore the meaning of life for themselves. It can catapult children into introspection and many complex meanings become more comprehensible and clear to them.
