Jean, thinking back to your adolescence was there a particular job you dreamed of doing when you grew up?
I was fascinated by anything that had to do with aerospace and human flight when growing up. I wanted to surf the clouds and see the world like a bird. The idea of flying high speed machinery and traveling all around the world filled my imagination. I devoured documentaries about the space program and knew everything about the different airframes flying around. To this day, I still think that flying represents one of the most inspiring human endeavours and with the best office view!
There are many compelling reasons to undertake an Executive MBA Program. What is your goal for the Telfer Executive MBA Program?
My short-term goal is to develop the professional skills required to take my business to the next level and transition into a full-time business and entrepreneurial career. More specifically, I’d like to improve my ability to look into business problems and develop informed decisions based on best practices. I feel that the unique executive format offered at Telfer will allow me to work directly on critical problems and obtain mentoring and guidance from highly experienced business professionals. I am especially interested in technology start-ups and how they can best transform ideas into profitable business models.
What qualities do you admire in a mentor? Do you have someone you consider a strong mentor in your own life
I admire leaders who are honest and do what they preach to inspire others. I also find that the best leaders are humble and know how to make members of their teams feel valued. Great leaders always have a vision and the courage to take risks in order to reach their goals. To sum it up, great leaders walk the talk, listen, analyze, hold their promises and know how to be decisive. My long term goal is to develop as one such leader and inspire others in their lifelong self-improvement quest.
