Andre Ramgattie

Andre, what has been your craziest experience or most unique experience that you have had while vacationing to-date?

Havasu Falls with its turquoise blue waters against the red canyon walls is one of the most remote and beautiful places in the world. Now imagine being in Vegas for a wedding day prior and a day later going camping into the depths of the Grand Canyon. What’s even more impressive was that I had never been camping before. My now wife convinced me that it was no big deal, we just had to hike ten miles with a forty pound backpack into the depths of the Grand Canyon, three hundred feet below. Her selling point was the fact that I just had to get there and on our way out of the Canyon I would get to ride in a helicopter. Nope! When we arrived at the campsite we learned that the helicopter company did not operate on the day that we were leaving and did not post that information on their website.

There are many options when considering a Master’s degree program. What would you say was a turning point in choosing the Telfer Executive MBA?

Real world application of my learning and team collaboration were my deciding factors for the Telfer Executive MBA Program! There could be no better experience than being able to apply what we learn immediately into real business cases. We get to have this experience six times throughout the program’s Signature Series of Six Business Consulting Projects. The most exciting one being the International Business Consulting Project and Trip. In recent years the scope of work of these consulting projects has been incredible. Combine that with a program that’s focused on collaboration and the importance of building and leveraging a team made the Telfer Executive MBA Program a no-brainer.

Kindly discuss any charity or community work you have completed recently or not for profit organizations you support. What draws you to this cause?

For most, owning a home is often taken for granted. Real estate has always been an interest of mine and I too took this for granted. I was recently exposed to Habitat for Humanity and I have been volunteering at their Re-Store with my hours being donated to a prospective Habitat Home recipient. Habitat’s mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. As their vision states, everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live!
