Stanley Gomes, EMBA 2009, closes off Alumni Association's Annual General Meeting with global insights from his career

Stanley Gomes, Keynote Speaker at Telfer Executive MBA's Annual General Meeting

 

Thank you to our alumni community for joining the Telfer Executive MBA Alumni Association's Annual General Meeting that was held on Thursday, May 24th. 

Four, two-year director positions, were slated for election for the 2018-2020 term. Returning to the association in two of these positions are Taylor Bildstein, EMBA 2016 and Tim Warland, EMBA, 2004.  Taylor has served as a member of the Telfer Executive MBA Board of Directors for two years in the roles of Communications Director and Treasurer. Tim joined the board last year with the responsibility for business outreach including taking ownership of Pitchfest/ School-your-start-up for the Class of 2019.

The board welcomes two new members in the remaining two positions; Dr. Tanya Horsley, EMBA 2018 and Paul Murphy, EMBA 1994. 

The formality of the AGM was followed by keynote speaker and alumnus, Stanley Gomes, EMBA 2009.  

Stanley spoke about key milestones in his 30+ year career where he has spent much of his career outside of Canada. He has lived and worked in 10 countries around the world.  Stanley’s career has been a mix of the private sector within the Oil and Gas and the Information Technology industry, and more than 11 years within the Public Service of Canada holding positions with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Global Affairs Canada.

Stanley returned to Canada in August of 2017 after his three-year posting in Bangalore, India as Canada’s Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner for South India, covering Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Stanley is now focusing his efforts on negotiating free trade agreements at Global Affairs Canada in his new capacity in Trade Policy and Negotiations.
