Managing Supplier Sustainability Risk

The Telfer School of Management is pleased to invite you for a New Faculty Seminar presented by Assistant Professor Sara Hajmohammad on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A growing number of organizations are exposed to different types of risk within their global supply chains, specifically risks originating from their suppliers’ social or environmental misconduct. Upon discovering such misconduct, stakeholders who are concerned about sustainability issues often hold the buying firms accountable. In other words, the buying firms are the ones that need to take action to mitigate the damage or improve the practices.

In this talk, Professor Hajmohammad will discuss:

  • sustainability risks by suppliers and their implications for buying firms;
  • when and how management teams of the buying firms decide to take action to manage these risks;
  • the potential outcomes of their collective actions; and
  • the role of non-market stakeholders such as NGOs and activist groups in this decision-making process.

This event will be of interest to sustainability advocates and policy makers as well as supply chain management researchers and practitioners.
