The One Crisis – that won’t go away: Understanding interconnected grand challenges through an organizational lens

The Telfer School of Management is pleased to invite you for a New Faculty Seminar presented by Associate Professor Suhaib Riaz on September 11, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dysfunctional socioeconomic systems, economic inequality, political polarization, and global trade wars are among the grand challenges of our times. These large-scale phenomena can have a profound impact on everyone’s lives.

In this talk, Professor Suhaib Riaz will briefly outline the trajectory of his research on key grand challenges. Based on his research about the dysfunctional financial system in the context of 2008 global financial crisis, Professor Riaz will share research insights into industry bankruptcies, elite actors, debt practices, economic inequality, and other facets of the crisis. He will also discuss how the crisis is transforming and continuing, pointing to the interconnected nature of multiple grand challenges. He refers to these interrelated grand challenges as the “One Crisis”.
