Exploring the impact of China-Africa partnerships

The Tefler School of Management is pleased to invite you for a New Faculty Seminar presented by Assistant Professor Abdoulkadre Ado on Thursday, February 14, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 13:00 p.m..

Africa is on the rise with many African countries making their way to the top of the world’s GDP growth list. Additionally, there is an unprecedented optimism about Africa’s potential of soon becoming a prosperous, industrialized continent or as some like to paraphrase – The next China. Meanwhile, China has recently announced a record investment of $60 billion in Africa over the next 3 years in addition to the $60 billion that China already committed to the continent in of Abdoulkadre Ado

China is now Africa’s top trade partner, building the China-in-Africa momentum, but many still remain reluctant to such increased ties. Given the importance of understanding corporate partinerships between these two emerging regions, in this talk, Professor Ado will:

  • take you through the impact and implications of Chinese increasing investments in Africa;
  • discuss if and how African organizations benefit from joint ventures with Chinese partners; and
  • explore several partnership cases between Chinese and African companies.

This presentation will be bilingual.
