Telfer MBA Conference Series — We Connect You with Original Thinkers

The Telfer MBA Conferences connect you with original thinkers whose ideas are transforming business and management in Canada and around the world. Do not miss the next upcoming event.

Power and Politics — Can the political games we see on TV and social media hurt our own organizations?

We are witnessing an unprecedented change in political attitudes and behaviours; from Donald Trump to the Ford brothers to whomever may arise tomorrow. Political behaviour and their consequences are more prominent on our minds than they were in the past.

Politics have been a part of society for an extended period of time, becoming a natural element of every organization. The challenge is to successfully navigate both external politics and organizational ones in a way that does not negatively affect productivity and job satisfaction.

In this year's edition of our popular annual leadership development conference, our guest speakers will explore some important questions related to organizational politics and their impact:

  • What do politics look like within teams and wider organizations?
  • What impact can they have on organizational culture, attitudes and behaviours?
  • How can we deal with organizational politics?
  • What can we do to improve the situation?

Richard Clayman, Sessional Professor, Leadership and Team Development, Telfer School of Management

Eli Turk,  President, Commercial Sales, Arctic UAV
