An initiative implemented in May 2014, our 1st year advising appointments have proven to make a significant and positive impact in the transition of our undergraduate students.

The intention of these appointments is to make an early connection with the incoming Telfer class and properly prepare you with the most appropriate and relevant information you’ll need upon embarking on your undergraduate careers, such as:

  • providing you with a friendly face when you have questions;
  • explaining the key components of academic life;
  • helping you find balance between your academic and social lives by introducing you to the various extra-curricular activities we offer.

During the summer leading up to your first term as a Telfer student, our team of Academic Specialists will be in touch with you to introduce themselves and to invite you to schedule your appointment with them.

We look forward to meeting and getting to know you throughout your time at Telfer!

Fun Fact: I am accident-prone and have broken 8 bones at last count.

I work with BCom students to assist them in understanding academic regulations and program requirements by connecting them to services and resources available to them. Prior to working in academic advising, I have also worked with both the Career Centre and the International Exchange programs at Telfer. I am a graduate of the University of Ottawa with a BSc in Biology and a Minor in Psychology.

I’m looking forward to meeting the new cohort of Telfer students!

Esther Ouellet

Academic Administrator

Projects: BCom/JD, course scheduling, appeal committee

Fun Fact: When I was a baby, I named my dog by putting my finger on this word in the dictionary: Pignouf, which is a kind of insult in French!

I coordinate the Undergraduate Office academic activities, from students’ enrolment to their graduation. I handle the more complex cases and exception requests. I also coordinate the scheduling of undergraduate courses. I obtained a Master’s degree in Literary Studies (Middle Ages) at Université Laval.

I can’t wait to see what the BCom 2019 cohort will bring to the Telfer School!

Academic Development and Student Retention Specialist

Projects: Coop, Academic Standing, Student Retention

Fun Fact: I completed my last BCom exam on a Friday and started in this role the following Monday.

My role is to guide students during their studies in the BCom, to overcome challenges, and to accomplish the ultimate objective of graduating from their program of choice.  Before being in this role, I was a student (and eventual alumni from) the BCom, taking mostly courses from the management and marketing options.

In addition, I coordinate the International Exchange Programs and support students in their participation of the program. I am a graduate of the University of Ottawa with an Honours BA with Major in Psychology and Minor in Criminology.

Having grown up in Ottawa, I am a true Ottawan at heart. I know the ins and outs of the city, and would be happy to share my knowledge with you!
