Rules

  • Submission Platform: All videos must be uploaded to YouTube or another video sharing site.
  • Duration: Your video must be between 2-3 minutes long.
  • Content: Your video must show your host university’s campus.
  • Language: The video must be in French, English, or have dialogue replaced by music.
  • Focus: Your video should illustrate how your international exchange experience relates to one or more of our pillars for a Better Canada:
    • Greener
    • Healthier
    • Happier
    • Wealthier
    Show how these pillars are represented or interpreted in the context of your host country or institution. Highlight any relevant examples or experiences that demonstrate these pillars from an international perspective.
  • Program participation: You must have completed an international exchange through the Telfer International Exchange Programs.
  • Optional: Incorporation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is encouraged.

Selection criteria

  • Pillar Connection: The video effectively relates your international exchange experience to at least one of pillars.
  • Originality: The video presents a creative and unique perspective.
  • Promotion: The video clearly promotes the international exchange programs.
  • Impact: The video highlights what was most striking or impactful about your exchange experience.

Content restrictions

The video must not contain inappropriate content, or content that is likely to cause offence or to injure the reputation of the University in any way.

Use and ownership of video entry

The participants retain copyright for the video. However, once submitted, the copy of the video becomes the exclusive property of the University. Each participant authorizes the University to use the video for promotional, educational or other purposes. By entering the contest, participants expressly waive all moral rights for the video. The School/University may, and may authorize others to, use, edit, reproduce, publish, broadcast, exhibit, transmit and distribute both the video itself and the name, images, audio, text and any other information submitted by the participants, without further permission or compensation.

Privacy

Information collected from contest entries will be used by the School/University solely to select the contest winners. By participating in the contest, you agree that your video entry and any photo containing your image may be posted on the Internet, including the School and University’s websites, YouTube, etc.

Participant responsibilities

By entering the contest, you confirm that you have ensured:

a. that the video is original and does not infringe on any other person’s copyright, trademark, privacy rights or any other rights;

b. that you have obtained permission from any recognizable individual appearing in the video. Consent forms will need to be signed by these individuals (download a copy of the consent form [PDF]);

c. If music is used, tracks owned by a participant or tracks from a permission-to-use open source can be used. All commercial music must be credited to the copyright owners and only used with their permission.

Disclaimer

The School/University is not responsible or liable for any claims related to the video entry, such as those related to infringement of intellectual property rights, public dissemination of the video and invasion of privacy, libel or slander. The School/University is also not responsible for technical hardware or software failures of any kind, for lost or unavailable network connections or for failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions that may limit or interfere with a participant’s ability to take part in the contest. By participating in the contest, you agree to release and discharge the University, its directors, officers, employees, sponsors, prize suppliers and their agents from all actions, claims and demands arising out of your participation in the contest, the awarding of the prize or the use of any personal information.
